Our nights really depend on a lot of factors, and if you have a pet—especially a dog—the likelihood of your sleep getting disrupted is very high.
Dogs don’t have a sense of when to bark and when not to. They bark whenever they feel like barking. They don’t care about time or place, and sometimes they unintentionally wake us up in the middle of the night—which can be very frustrating.
There are a few dog breeds that bark louder and more often than others. If you prefer your dog being calmer and not too loud, you need to choose a breed that is naturally calmer and doesn’t bark without reason.
In this post, we are going to cover exactly that. Stick around until the end—thanks!
1. Cane Corso
Cane Corsos are strong, powerful dogs known for protecting their owners and guarding homes. They are recognized worldwide for being amazingly intelligent, loyal, and protective.
However, one of the things that pulls people away from making them their pet is their very loud bark.
They have a deep, powerful voice that is instantly distinguishable from other dog breeds. They can literally scare any intruder or animal. Not only do they have a loud bark, but their sheer size makes them even more imposing.
Experts don’t recommend this breed to new or first-time owners at all, as they can be very difficult to manage once fully grown.
Their popularity has been on an upward trajectory, and many new owners are getting them. However, never go for such a powerful breed if you lack experience.
If you already have a Cane Corso puppy, you can train him to understand when it is the right time to bark. This kind of training can really help.
But again, Cane Corsos are not “gentle giants.” They are giants with aggression—so keep that in mind before going for them.
On the positive side, they are calmer than many breeds. They usually don’t bark without reason, unlike Huskies. That’s definitely a plus point.
2. German Shepherd
German Shepherds are one of the most intelligent dog breeds. In fact, they are so intelligent that they are often hired to help police officers or soldiers catch criminals.
Their high sense of smell makes them highly sought after. They know both how to protect their family members and when to stay calm.
When it comes to barking, they don’t bark without reason. They bark only when it is needed—which is one of their best qualities.
My neighbor has a German Shepherd, and he barks a lot whenever he sees an unfamiliar face. It sometimes gets frustrating because he barks loudly and continuously. This shows he hasn’t been trained enough.
German Shepherds are very easy to train due to their intelligence. You can literally train them at any age, plus there are many resources available online to help. So, why not just train them?
I think I should talk to my neighbor about it—maybe he’ll understand.
3. Tibetan Mastiff
These lion-like dogs are not only scary-looking but also have one of the strongest barks in the dog world. They can scare anyone trying to jump the fence and enter your property.
One Tibetan Mastiff is enough to protect your home from burglars. Their long hair and big head give them a very distinctive look, making them highly recognizable.
They originate from the Himalayas, a land of leopards, bears, and—yes—you guessed it, Tibetan Mastiffs.
This breed is even banned in certain places, as they can be dangerous to small animals and even humans, especially if they have not received proper training and socialization from a young age.
In fact, there have been cases where a Tibetan Mastiff attacked and caused fatalities—showing how difficult they can be to control.
I never recommend this breed to first-time owners. Only go for them if you are absolutely certain you can handle such a giant dog and if you have years of experience with large breeds.
4. Bandog
Bandogs are one of the most banned dog breeds in the world due to their highly aggressive nature and strong bite force. Their bite can reach up to 700 PSI—which is insane and strong enough to crush bones.
They were specially bred to protect homes and farmlands. Because of their aggression, they are not recommended for new owners. They don’t get along with other dogs or unfamiliar humans.
They require extensive training that first-time owners simply cannot provide.
When it comes to barking, Bandogs bark extremely loudly—sometimes their bark can even be heard from a great distance.
5. Kangals
Another massive dog breed, known for its strength and loud bark. Kangals are legendary for having the strongest bite force in the dog world—even stronger than Bandogs.
They are true cattle protectors and can even fight wolves. They fear no one. Due to their size, they look extremely dominating. In fact, words can’t describe how massive they are—you can only truly understand their size when you see an adult Kangal in front of you.
Their bite force makes them unique, but their loud bark is also unforgettable. It echoes and penetrates the ears even from far away.
Their loud bark alone is enough to intimidate anyone.
Overall, they are not a great choice if you are looking for a cute little pet. They are hard-to-handle dogs, and if left untrained, they can be dangerous. Always remember that before considering a Kangal.
I hope you liked this post.
