Dog Breeds That Are Really Polite and Friendly

There is a media rage going against dogs, showing how brutal they can be to humans; they hardly show the good side of them, as it’s not going to attract TRP.

New buyers are getting scared after looking at those news videos and articles, but let me tell you, like all humans are different from each other, similarly, all dogs have different personalities.

If you are a first-time owner, you probably require a dog that is polite, outgoing, and is friendly with everyone. In this post, you are going to get exactly that.

Though even I say that these breeds are polite, it cannot be true 100% as it is totally dependent on the individual dog. I hope it’s clear before I proceed.

1: Labrador Retrievers

Labradors are adorable and are recognized for their friendliness from all around the globe. They are recommended by vets, especially if you are a first-time owner and looking for a family-friendly medium-sized dog breed.

Now, there are some problems also which you must take care of before you go for that breed.

They are very social dogs and like spending time with their owners. Leaving them alone for a long time can cause anxiety and panic in them.

They can be hard to manage as they love chewing covers, sofas, pillows, etc.

Overall, a great pick for first-time owners.

Though they are polite, they are energetic and hard to handle sometimes. They are like those energetic kids who look very cute but are overly energetic.

They also sleep a lot, by the way. They need around 14 hours of sleep at least.

2: Golden Retriever

Some people might be a little surprised at why I did not put the Golden Retriever in the number one position. Well, I’m not comparing them at all, for they both are one of the most friendly dog breeds ever—no dog breed comes close.

However, for the sake of making this list, I had to do that. Well, in the other list, the Labrador could be number one, who knows.

Golden Retrievers are also known as the Golden Child of America—they’re pretty famous. One of the most bought breeds in the US.

Unsurprisingly, Golden Retrievers have a heart of gold. They are always ready to play, like chewing things such as toys and sofa covers, and can be overly active at times.

Overall, an amazing pick if you want a super friendly dog breed.

3: Newfoundland

Newfoundlands are one of the biggest in terms of size and might look very scary when you watch them for the first time, but if I say that they are one of the nicest dog breeds out there, then don’t be surprised because they are!

They love jumping in a pool, enjoying summer, and they don’t even leave pools in winter, also because their love for water is unconditional.

Newfoundlands have now started to gain popularity as people are recognizing their behavior as top-tier. Especially those who want large dogs to keep their backyard protected, as well as having a dog that doesn’t pose much danger, are going after this breed.

There are some issues also with this breed—one of them is that they drool too much, get tired due to their size, and need a lot of care. Also, they can develop anxiety if their owners don’t show enough love.

Overall, they are a great choice for beginners who are looking for a teddy bear-type dog that is massive in size.

4: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is an amazing, eye-catching dog breed that looks stunning due to their small size and long ears. They are very clingy and love staying close to their human pals and need an adequate amount of daily attention.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels were developed as hunter dogs mainly to hunt small animals, but later, due to their cuteness, English royals embraced them, and they slowly became lap dogs.

They might look like slow dogs; however, they need around 30 minutes of exercise daily to feel fresh and active. Without it, they can develop difficulties and get irritated easily.

However, they do have some flaws. One of them is that their ears can catch fleas and other bacteria and germs. You need to pay special attention to this part of them.

5: Irish Setter

Irish Setter, as the name might have already made you realize that they were born in Ireland, are one of the kindest and friendliest dog breeds.

They are not as small as the Cavs, but they still feel like a puppy—a big-sized puppy. Families who want a kid-friendly dog breed could find them to be one of the best choices.

However, they can be difficult to find in the USA as they mostly stay in Europe, especially in the UK. However, if you truly want them, you can get them.

They need early training, by the way, as without it they can become a bit difficult to manage and may get overly excited at times, which can cause your home items to be in stress.

Honorable Mentions

These dogs couldn’t make it to the top 5, but they are very friendly.

Pugs: Pugs are super cute, chubby, and drool-faced dogs that are mostly polite and get along well, as they are not very high-energy dogs, especially when they become a bit old. A super nice dog, and they are great for families.

Beagles: Another super cute dog breed that is family-friendly from the very beginning. They are like a small child—someone who is very cute and needs a lot of attention.

Boxer: Boxers are a great choice for those who do want a fighting dog breed that can protect their homes but also at the same time is very friendly. They are big-sized dogs with a face that looks like it is mixed with a pug. Amazing dog breed it is overall.

Conclusion

All dogs can be very polite if they have received adequate amount of love, care, and training from their childhood. However, some dog breeds are naturally friendly and don’t need too much exercise from the beginning.

For me, Labrador is the most friendly dog breed—it is very rare to find a hostile Labrador.
